This is GIRI, I am from MCA at Narasaraopeta Enggneering ColLege. I have selected in the off campus drive in the MLR College Technology held on 13-08-2010 by HCL Technologies.

Here, I am writing this posting to share my experience with you.

HCL RECRUITMENT PROCESS.

1) WRITTEN TEST (COMPUTER BASED ONLINE TEST)

It consists of 82 questions, we have to write them in 90 minutes

There are three sections :
a) Apptitude
b) English
c) English passage

This is very important to clear, if you clear the written test you are almost (75%) placed in the HCL.

Prepare the R.S AGARWAL book its more than enough.

2) GROUP DISCUSSION
Its very easy round to clear, though you are not aware of the topic it is easy because HR people gives brief description about one topic, later they ask questions on this topic. If you are good listener, pay some attention you definitely clear this round each group contains 10 members, major elemination is here only from my group only two members are cleared, at other pannels they selected 6 out 10, and some times 9 out 10 also don't fear. If don't know any thing about the topic ask thougths, this also improves your chances of getting selected in the GD just involve in the discussion by asking questions

3) HR INTERVIEW
HR interview is just for formality. But some of us also eleminated here also almost 500 people are qalified for the HR ROUND and 400+ selected (as per my knowledge).

HR questions like,
• Tell me about ur self?
• What are your achivements ?
• What are your short term goals and long term goals ?
• Family background ?
• What do you know about HCL?
• Why HCL?
• Why should we hire you ?
• What is your area of interest?
• Will you go Noida? like these are very very easy

My HR completed in 10 minutes. HCL, HR people are very friendly

Be honest and say sorry sir, if you dont know answer. But don't try to give answers even if you don't know

HCL RECRUITMENT PROCESS.

1) WRITTEN TEST (COMPUTER BASED ONLINE TEST)

It consists of 82 questions, we have to write them in 90 minutes

There are three sections :
a) Apptitude
b) English
c) English passage

Prepare the Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude by  R.S AGARWAL. It is enough.

2) TECHNICAL GROUP DISCUSSION
Its very easy round to clear, though you are not aware of the topic it was easy because HR people gave brief description about the  topic, our topic was Testing.Since our group of 5,were all from different streams,HR told us to talk in general about the topic rather than on technical side. If you are a good listener, pay some attention you definitely clear this round, major elemination is here only but all of them got selected from my group.

3) HR INTERVIEW
HR interview is just for formality. But some of us also got eliminated.Almost 500 people are qualified for the HR ROUND and 400+ selected (as per my knowledge).

The HR questions for me are,
- Tell me about ur self?
- What are your achivements ?
- What are your Strengths & weakness?
- What are your Hobbies ?
- What do you know about HCL?
- What are your academic projects?
- Why should we hire you ?
- What is your area of interest?
- Will you go Noida if you are posted there?

I was also posed by the questions which i never expected like:

1) If you were on a two-wheeler at a speed of 60km/hr..HR asked me to continue after this.

2) Tell the route map of the building to this room starting from the entrance of the building

My HR completed in around 20 minutes.

Write test cases for ur code.

2) S contains the set of positive integer. Find the largest number c such that c=a+b where a,b,c are distict number of the set.

.............................

1. Solve this cryptic equation, realizing of course that values for M and E could be interchanged. No leading zeros are allowed.
This can be solved through systematic application of logic. For example, cannot be equal to 0, since . That would make , but , which is not possible. Here is a slow brute-force method of solution that takes a few minutes on a relatively fast machine:
This gives the two solutions :
777589 - 188106 == 589483
777589 - 188103 == 589486

Here is another solution using Mathematica's Reduce command:
A faster (but slightly more obscure) piece of code is the following:
Faster still using the same approach (and requiring ~300 MB of memory):
Even faster using the same approach (that does not exclude leading zeros in the solution, but that can easily be weeded out at the end):
Here is an independent solution method that uses branch-and-prune techniques: And the winner for overall fastest:

2. Write a haiku describing possible methods for predicting search traffic seasonality. MathWorld's search engine seemed slowed this May. Undergrads prepping for finals.

3.
 1
1 1
2 1
1 2 1 1
1 1 1 2 2 1

What's the next line?
312211.

This is the "look and say" sequence in which each term after the first describes the previous term: one 1 (11); two 1s (21); one 2 and one 1 (1211); one 1, one 2, and two 1's (111221); and so on. See the look and say sequence entry on MathWorld for a complete write-up and the algebraic form of a fascinating related quantity known as Conway's constant.

4. You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike. There is a dusty laptop here with a weak wireless connection. There are dull, lifeless gnomes strolling around. What dost thou do?
A) Wander aimlessly, bumping into obstacles until you are eaten by a grue.
B) Use the laptop as a digging device to tunnel to the next level.
C) Play MPoRPG until the battery dies along with your hopes.
D) Use the computer to map the nodes of the maze and discover an exit path.
E) Email your resume to Google, tell the lead gnome you quit and find yourself in whole different world [sic].
In general, make a state diagram . However, this method would not work in certain pathological cases such as, say, a fractal maze. For an example of this and commentary, see Ed Pegg's column about state diagrams and mazes .

E) All of the above

8. How many different ways can you color an icosahedron with one of three colors on each face?
For an asymmetric 20-sided solid, there are possible 3-colorings . For a symmetric 20-sided object, the Polya enumeration theorem can be used to obtain the number of distinct colorings. Here is a concise Mathematica implementation: What colors would you choose?

9. This space left intentionally blank. Please fill it with something that improves upon emptiness.
For nearly 10,000 images of mathematical functions, see The Wolfram Functions Site visualization gallery .

10. On an infinite, two-dimensional, rectangular lattice of 1-ohm resistors, what is the resistance between two nodes that are a knight's move away?

This problem is discussed in J. Cserti's 1999 arXiv preprint . It is also discussed in The Mathematica GuideBook for Symbolics, the forthcoming fourth volume in Michael Trott's GuideBook series, the first two of which were published just last week by Springer-Verlag. The contents for all four GuideBooks, including the two not yet published, are available on the DVD distributed with the first two GuideBooks. 11. It's 2PM on a sunny Sunday afternoon in the Bay Area. You're minutes from the Pacific Ocean, redwood forest hiking trails and world class cultural attractions. What do you do?

12. In your opinion, what is the most beautiful math equation ever derived? There are obviously many candidates. The following list gives ten of the authors'
favorites:
1. Archimedes' recurrence formula : , , ,
2. Euler formula :
3. Euler-Mascheroni constant :
4. Riemann hypothesis: and implies
5. Gaussian integral :
6. Ramanujan's prime product formula:

8. Mandelbrot set recursion:
9. BBP formula :
10. Cauchy integral formula:

An excellent paper discussing the most beautiful equations in physics is Daniel Z. Freedman's " Some beautiful equations of mathematical physics ." Note that the physics view on beauty in equations is less uniform than the mathematical one. To quote the notnecessarily- standard view of theoretical physicist P.A.M. Dirac, "It is more important to have beauty in one's equations than to have them fit experiment."

16. Given a triangle ABC, how would you use only a compass and straight edge to find a point P such that triangles ABP, ACP and BCP have equal perimeters? (Assume that ABC is constructed so that a solution does exist.) This is the isoperimetric point , which is at the center of the larger Soddy circle. It is related to Apollonius' problem . The three tangent circles are easy to construct: The circle around has diameter , which gives the other two circles. A summary of compass and straightedge constructions for the outer Soddy circle can be found in " Apollonius' Problem: A Study of Solutions and Their Connections" by David Gisch and Jason M. Ribando.

Placement Papers :: Tech Mahindra

My name is Ravish Rawat. Let me tell you my Interview Experience.

Clearing Tech Mahindra is all about aptitude.

If you have cleared the aptitude you have very high chances.

Here is the entire process:

->Aptitude(28 out 400 selected)).

->Tech Interview.

->HR Interview (Finally 9 were selected).

It was a pool campus event so approx. 10-15 colleges has taken part in the Campus event.

They started with the presentation ceremony. Please do not waste your time if you are not eligible because they are very certain about that. So you will waste your time.

Tech Mahindra's paper might be the easiest one among others but the difficult part is not how hard but difficult part is the speed.

You have to complete 180 questions in 90 minutes.

The major part is English but its moderate level question.

So one shoudl finish those in 20-25 minutes.

For English please go throgh some basic grammer fundas than it will be very much helpful.
The questions will be easy all you have to do is finish all the questions as fast as possible.

Now the apti is the tricky one.
Some question will be easy some will be timeconsuming.
So save time for that.

The question will come more from series,patnership,non-verbal
I have go through plenty of questions of IndiaBix and other placement paper which helped me a lot so i will advise you to do the same.
After apti they declared the result and about 28 were selected out almost 350.

So they did major filtration in aptitude. So tough part is to clear aptitude.

They pronounce the result at almost 5'o clock. Now we have to wait for tech interview.

Before technical interview the have given us a form to fill up. it has some basic questions like where u see your self after 5 year your aim in life etc.

Now tech interview. The main thing here is communication skill and some basic knowledge of your fav subjects.

Here communication skill will help you to go through personal interview because if you have got less mark here than HR will become little bit tough.

he asked me questions like what is linked list explain pointers what is the difference in class and object, then abt OSI model , various protocols.

P.S - be cool n be your self .if u dont know any thing then just say i dont know abt it.

Even I didn't answered some of their questions like what is servelets, telnet etc
SO I know I have cleared the tech interview.

If you have gone through till here you have almost won 95% battle.
Now you just have to keep your moral up and your mind in its place.

Now the last is HR for me the just asked some basic questions like will u be able to move to hyderabad, what u know about tech mahindra and then he said ok wait outside. then after 7 minutes he declared the result.

Finally 9 students out of 400 got selected. our package is 1.9L + 15K (for reallocation) per annum.

I am a student of B.E. (I.T.) from Atharva college of Engineering - Mumbai. Tech mahindra came to our college on 25th of September 2008.

Candidates appeared for the aptitude: 81
Candidates Cleared aptitude: 17
Finally selected after Interviews: 17

The 1st screening was done by keeping the eligibility criteria as 58%. Those below 58% were allowed to sit for the exams but even if they cleared the aptitude they were not called for interviews!

The Aptitude test was ONLINE!!. The test was reallly simple but the main constraint was TIME!!... we had to solve 100 questions in 60 mins. The procedure to be followed during the test and various details such as login_id and password were clearly explained when the panel gave their presentation. There is no Negative marking. So attempt all questions.

For clearing the aptitude R.S aggarwal Quantitative & Verbal -Nonverbal Reasoning should be solved...

The important topics that should be covered from these books are:
==Quantitative: H.C.F.and L.C.M of nos., Average, Problems on Ages, Percentage, Time and Work, Alligation or Mixture, Simple Interest, Compound  Interest, Clocks, Simplification
==Verbal and Nonverbal: series  completion, Analogy, coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, Puzzle test, Data sufficiency, Logic, Statement-Conclusions, Figure matrix, Odd man Out from Image Series, series of images.

There are 6 sections
section 1=Nonverbal,
section 2=verbal reasoning,
section 3=Quantitative,
section 4,5,6 is English

There is sectional cutoff but no Upper cutoff. GUI is user friendly. Every section, after attempting should be saved otherwise the page gets refreshed and all the answers will be lost. we can change the section as and when we want but the section should be saved.

If u get a good score in ur aptitude or if u are among the Top-3 or 4 students ur technical interview will be easy.

I was asked general questions such as Tell me about urself, Why should I hire u?, What do u know about Tech Mahindra?, What are ur strengths and weaknesses? Tell me about the Projects that u did and the role played by u and other team members. Then I was told to move to the H.R. Round

In the H.R. round the interviewer asked us about our views regarding a general situation. The situation given to me was that... if i am made the college principal what are the 3 things that i would like to change?... Others were asked about MNS, and issue of north indians coming into Mumbai.

Just be confident and if u dont know something say u are not sure or say I dont know! Dont  bluff. Be thorough with ur projects and everything that u have mentioned in ur resume! If u have a gap in any of ur academic years or between the Engineering semesters... u should have a strong reason to support the gap.

Before Tech Mahindra... I had appeared for 6 other companies but somehow I couldnt even clear the aptitude.

So dont lose hope if u are still struggling with the aptitude.... its just that.. it was not ur day or something better is awaiting u!!

Indian Constitution :: Introduction

The Constitution of India is the world's lengthiest written constitution with 395 articles and 8 schedules. It contains the good points taken from the constitution's of many countries in the world. It was passed on 26 Nov 1949 by the 'The Constituent Assembly' and is fully applicable since 26 Jan 1950. The Constituent Assembly had been elected for undivided India and held its first sitting on 9th Dec.1946, re-assembled on the 14th August 1947, as The Sovereign Constituent Assembly for the dominion of India. In regard to its composition the members were elected by indirect election by the members of The Provisional Legislative Assemblies (lower house only). At the time of signing 284 out of 299 members of the Assembly were present.
The constitution of India draws extensively from Western legal traditions in its outline of the principles of liberal democracy. It follows a British parliamentary pattern with a lower and upper house. It embodies someFundamental Rights which are similar to the Bill of Rights declared by the United States constitution. It alsoborrows the concept of a Supreme Court from the US.
India is a federal system in which residual powers of legislation remain with the central government, similar to that in Canada. The constitution provides detailed lists dividing up powers between central and state governments as in Australia, and it elaborates a set of Directive Principles of State Policy as does the Irishconstitution.
The constitution has provision for Schedules to be added to the constitution by amendment. The tenschedules in force cover the designations of the states and union territories; the emoluments for high-level officials; forms of oaths; allocation of the number of seats in the Rajya Sabha. A review of the constitutionneeds at least two-thirds of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to pass it.
The Indian constitution is one of the most frequently amended constitutions in the world. Infact the first amendment to it was passed after only a year of the adoption of the constitution and instituted numerous minor changes. Many more amendments followed, a rate of almost two amendments per year since 1950. Most of the constitution can be amended after a quorum of more than half of the members of each house in Parliament passes an amendment with a two-thirds majority vote. Articles pertaining to the distribution of legislative authority between the central and state governments must also be approved by 50 percent of the state legislatures.

Preamble of The Constitution

We, The people of India, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:
JUSTICE, social, economic and political;
LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;
EQUALITY of status and of opportunity and to promote among them all
FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation
IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do hereby Adopt, Enact and give ourselves this Constitution.
